Text advertising has been on the rise for years. The recession did slow it down somewhat though. But even with more dynamic mobile platforms like the iPhone and Android, which are also visually more pleasing to the user, text message advertising will continue to be a powerful marketing tool. As a matter of fact, mobile media marketing was up 62% last year and 82% the year before that according to eMarketer, a research firm.
For example, 4INFO, the biggest mobile marketing company at the moment, sends over 80 million text ads a month. People sign up to receive these messages voluntarily, so it can never be considered spam. Even huge companies like Yahoo use these services to provide their users with updates on the weather, celebrities, horoscopes and sport scores.
Text messaging between people, especially younger people, is becoming more popular every day. It has even become more popular than calling someone in person. We’re active in fixing up for our family weekend vacation. Well basically, we’re to go to my aunties 50th golden wedding anniversary. It has been months past since I have not been home to Leeds. It was just like yesterday when I was there for Christmas, but I only stayed on for a week. I would constantly think back how my mom would bid us goodbye once the holidays are done. She would squeeze each one of us tightly trying to hold back her tears as she waves us bye-bye. I know deep inside that she is a bit, for lack of better word, angry at me and my better half for not permitting the kids to stay with them often. You know how old folks are with their grandchildren. I was having problems listening to the radio. It seemed like stations just didn’t change; they played the same radio rotation over and over. I was starting to get really tired of listening to the same artists play the same songs. I would begin listening to talk radio instead because I was so fed up with the whole thing. Unfortunately, talk radio is really boring, and I usually would just turn the radio off.
You see, I always want to hear new musicians play new music. It’s important that I hear creativity and talent when I’m listening. I’m pretty sure that truly passionate, independent musicians are usually ignored by the music industry. Instead, artistic management agencies just pick to represent more of the same, every single time. When you watch TV, even the music videos are all the same.
I was starting to become really cynical about music overall. In fact, I realized that I hadn’t listened to any music for quite some time. I’d become so bitter towards the music industry that I didn’t want to hear anything on the radio that reminded me of that. Read more...
